The results of this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations are likely to be published after July 28, as education boards will not be able to complete the process by the previously announced July 20 deadline.
The boards expect to finalise the results by July 28 or 29, after which the education ministry will decide the publication date, said Prof Syed Akhtaruzzaman, president of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee.
“We were instructed to prepare the results by July 20, but could not complete the work for several reasons, including the recent unrest,” he told The Daily Star today.
He said the boards were working to complete the process within a week.
“The final decision on the publication date rests with the ministry,” Akhtaruzzaman added.
Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced at a press conference at the Secretariat on June 8 that the results would be published on July 20. He said the authorities concerned had been instructed to complete the process by then.
This year’s SSC and equivalent examinations began on April 21. The written examinations under the nine general education boards ended on May 20, while the Dakhil and vocational written examinations concluded on May 24.
A total of 1,857,344 candidates registered for the examinations under the nine general education boards, the Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board and the Bangladesh Technical Education Board.
