Unidentified assailants shot a "listed top criminal" in Dhaka’s Hatirjheel area this afternoon, police say.

Yeasin Khan alias Palash, also known as "Kailla Palash", was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with bullet wounds, said Md Asaduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Hatirjheel Police Station.

"He is a top listed criminal with many cases filed again him, including murder," he added.

Palash was in jail for 25 years.

The OC said the shooting happened around 1:45pm near Ekramunnesa Girls' High School located near Rampura bridge.

Earlier, on November 10 last year, "listed top criminal" Tarik Saif Mamun, 55, was shot dead in broad daylight in Dhaka's Sutrapur while another "top criminal" Khandokar Noyeem Ahmed Titon was shot and killed in the New Market area on April 28 this year.
