At the same time, on the same day, United Commercial Bank held Townhalls simultaneously across 16 regions of the country.
In some regions, the bank’s Chairman was present; in others, the Managing Director, AMDs, DMDs, and senior officials led the sessions, according to a media release.
United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) is clearly experiencing a highly successful year. This month, the Bank crossed a milestone of over BDT 11,000 crore in net deposit growth and added more than 650,000 new accounts— the highest in UCB’s history and more than two and a half times higher than last year. From January to December, UCB has achieved the highest deposit growth in the country, while also setting notable benchmarks in classified loan recovery and improved profitability across most branches, the release says.
Behind this success lies a strong and inclusive philosophy: uniting every team member across the country under a shared purpose. As a practical reflection of this vision, UCB organized four regional townhalls on a quarterly basis this year. On the same day, branch heads from all 16 regions came together to present their quarterly achievements, exchange effective business strategies, and define clear, actionable objectives and work plans for the next quarter. They also received real-time guidance on problem-solving and collaboration, according to the release.
The impact is evident. Today, every UCB team member clearly understands their mission and goals. This sense of purpose has spread so widely that even support staff have stepped forward with equal enthusiasm. Over the past few months, messengers, guards, and other support staff; driven by initiative, confidence, and dedication, have collectively mobilized a significant volume of deposits, as per the release.
The townhalls were not limited to performance reviews and planning alone. A key highlight was the presentation of special certificates of recognition, signed by the Managing Director, to employees who mobilized deposits exceeding BDT 10 million. This recognition of their hard work, skills, and commitment has further motivated and inspired them. The events also featured songs, poetry recitations, and light-hearted humor, as employees brought their creativity to the stage, turning the townhalls into vibrant celebrations. The remarkable success UCB is witnessing today is powered by these very people who have truly made the Bank their own, the release adds.
UCB’s Managing Director & CEO, Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid, said, “Everything we do is driven by customer satisfaction—together, united, and moving forward on the same path.”
