Police recovered the throat-slit body of a 27-year-old woman from a residence in the Kalachandpur area of Dhaka’s Gulshan early today.

The deceased was identified as Sadia Rahman Mim, who worked at a beauty parlour, police said.

The body was found around 12:15am on the first floor of a house in West Kalachandpur and later sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue for autopsy, said Sub-Inspector Md Maruf Hasan of Gulshan Police Station.

Quoting family, the SI said that Mim hailed from Dhanbari upazila of Tangail and had been living in the Kalachandpur house. Her marriage ended in separation around eight months ago, and she had been sharing the flat with another woman, Nusrat, who reportedly was in her village home in Shariatpur at the time of the incident.

The SI added that Mim last spoke with her sister, Sadia Akter, on Friday. After repeated attempts to contact her failed as her phone was switched off, Sadia Akter went to the house yesterday afternoon. Finding it locked from the outside, she broke open the lock and discovered Mim’s body inside with her throat slit.

Police said the body bore multiple injuries from sharp weapons on different parts, in addition to the cut to her throat.
