The 24th Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) is set to take place from January 10–18, and ahead of the event, the organisers have announced the names of five international jury members for the Women Filmmakers' section.

This year's panel includes renowned Bangladeshi actress and director Afsana Mimi, who will evaluate films alongside creative professionals from four other countries.

Joining Afsana Mimi on the judging panel are Aleksandra Markovic, a UK-based Croatian documentary filmmaker and academic; Ronak Taher, an Iranian-Australian filmmaker and visual artiste; Geraldine Villamil, a celebrated Filipino film and stage actress; and Marion Standefer, a Paris-based American educator and filmmaker.

The Women Filmmakers' section is one of the most significant categories of DIFF, featuring feature films, short films, and documentaries directed exclusively by women. Winners for Best Documentary, Best Fiction, and Best Director are selected by an independent jury panel comprising women filmmakers, artistes, and cultural experts. Awardees receive certificates and crests.

The organisers noted that this year's jury represents a dynamic blend of cultural backgrounds and professional experiences, adding greater diversity and insight to the evaluation process.

Festival Director Ahmed Muztaba Zamal stated that a record number of films have been submitted from the highest number of countries in DIFF's history, marking a new milestone for the festival.
