Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a fugitive who had been sentenced to life imprisonment in a drug case during a special drive in Chauddagram upazila of Comilla district.
According to RAB officials, an operational team from RAB-11 conducted a raid in the Satgharia area under Chauddagram Model Police Station on Tuesday. Acting on a tip-off, the team apprehended the fugitive, identified as Md Aslam Mia, 50.
Company Commander of RAB-11, Major Sadman Ibne Alam, confirmed the arrest and provided details of the operation, reports BSS.
Md Aslam Mia, son of the late Nuru Mia, is a resident of Satgharia village in Chauddagram. He had been on the run since being sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in a drug-related case. After the verdict, he went into hiding to evade punishment and had been moving between different parts of the country.
Following intelligence information, RAB launched the operation that led to his capture. Legal procedures are now underway to enforce the court’s sentence against the arrested fugitive.
