Police have arrested a friend of model and actress Ridhika Ridhi in a case filed over her alleged death by suicide at an apartment in Dhaka's Bashundhara Residential Area. 

Bhatara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mazharul Islam told The Daily Star that Ridhi's mother filed a case for abetment of suicide, naming Hasibur Rahman as the sole accused. 

Hasibur was arrested last night and sent to court today, the OC said. 

Police recovered Ridhi's body hanging from a ceiling fan in the apartment around 6:00am yesterday after being informed of the incident, he added. 

Khondaker Abdur Rahman, a relative of Ridhi, said her real name was Lina Akhter, 26, while "Ridhi" was her stage name. She had been living alone in the rented apartment in Bashundhara. 

The OC said police are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
