Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman today said he had been waiting for this day for the past one and a half years, hoping for a fair election.

“Today, the election is underway. A congenial atmosphere for voting is prevailing. I have received information from across the country, and as per my reports, voting is going on peacefully everywhere,” he said after casting his vote at Adamjee Cantonment College polling station.

“I urge all voters to go to polling centres and cast their votes without fear. Today is a very important day for us,” he added, expressing his commitment to ensuring a fair election.

The army chief also praised the role of media personnel, noting that while they do not get to vote, they play a vital role in informing the public about the situation and encouraging citizens to cast their ballots.
