Abul Khair Group honoured six individuals with the “M-Rise Hero” award for their contributions to social development and humanitarian work.
The awards were presented at the “M-Rise Gala Night” held at InterContinental Dhaka on Thursday, according to a press release.
The programme included documentary screenings on the lives of the award recipients, cultural performances and award presentations.
Actor Shakib Khan handed over the honorary crests to the winners.
Sheikh Shabab Ahmed, group head of corporate affairs and legal at Abul Khair Group, was also present at the event.
The award recipients included Joy Barua Lablu of Chattogram for developing affordable bionic hands, Md Rostom Ali of Cox’s Bazar for supporting elderly people and orphaned children through the Ma-Baba Foundation, and Md Abdul Kaiyum of Dhaka for animal rescue and treatment activities.
Md Rizwan of Chattogram was recognised for his “Education for One Taka” initiative, while Mariam of Cox’s Bazar was honoured for supporting women through seaweed farming.
Prosenjit Kumar Saha received the award for his “Ucchash” initiative focused on education, skill development and health awareness.
Speaking at the event, Joy Barua Lablu said, “I have always believed technology should not only be about innovation, but also about making people’s lives easier and better.”
Md Rostom Ali said, “I thank Abul Khair Group for recognizing our work and inspiring positive social initiatives.”
Shakib Khan said, “I am truly proud to honor these real-life heroes. The people who are silently working for society deserve this recognition.”
Sheikh Shabab Ahmed said, “Beyond business success, Abul Khair Group has always worked for the betterment of society and people. The M-Rise initiative was born from that very vision.”
The organisers said the platform aims to highlight individuals contributing to positive social change across the country.
Journalists, content creators and senior officials of Abul Khair Group attended the event.
