At the 27th edition of the Meril-Prothom Alo Awards 2025, celebrated musician Mahfuz Anam James, popularly known as James, was presented with a special honour, recognising his outstanding contribution to Bangladesh’s music industry.

A towering figure in the country’s rock scene, James has, over the decades, carved out a distinct musical identity with his powerful vocals and genre-defining compositions. His influence spans generations, with an enduring legacy that continues to inspire both audiences and emerging artistes alike.

The accolade was presented to him by Matiur Rahman, editor of Prothom Alo, and Anjan Chowdhury, managing director of Square Toiletries.

The Meril-Prothom Alo Awards, one of the country’s most prestigious entertainment accolades, once again brought together leading figures from across film, television, and music, celebrating excellence and artistic achievement.
