A fire that broke out at a two-storey market at Bijoy Sarani in Dhaka early today was brought under control after nearly two hours of firefighting efforts, officials said.
The blaze erupted on the ground floor of the Kalmilata Bazar near the Bijoy Sarani intersection, according to Anwarul Islam of the Fire Service media wing.
Firefighters reached the spot around 5:20am. A total of 10 units from the Tejgaon, Mohammadpur, Mirpur and Siddikbazar fire stations worked to contain the fire.
The fire was brought under control around 7:00am, Anwarul said.
No casualties had been reported as of 8:20am.
