A passenger on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight has died after falling ill on a flight from Jeddah to Chattogram, prompting the aircraft to make an emergency diversion to Muscat.
Sanowara Begum, a 55-year-old resident of Chattogram, became ill shortly after flight BG-136 took off from Jeddah on Wednesday, according to Ibrahim Khalil, public relations officer at Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport.
“The flight was diverted and landed in Muscat. She was taken to a local hospital, where doctors declared her dead,” he said.
Ibrahim said Sanowara's body would be sent to Bangladesh through the Bangladesh embassy,, reports bdnews24.com.
He added that the flight had resumed its journey from Muscat and was expected to land at Chattogram’s Shah Amanat International Airport around 2:45 pm.
