Additional IGP Md Ahsan Habib Palash has assumed charge as the 12th director general of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today.
A member of the 15th BCS (Police) batch, Palash joined the Bangladesh Police in 1995 as an assistant superintendent of police and received his basic training at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi.
He served in several key units including the Armed Police Battalion (APBn), Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP), and in districts such as Rangamati, Shariatpur, and Narayanganj.
He also played significant roles in administrative and investigative functions at the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) headquarters and later served as Range DIG in Chattogram.
Palash has participated in UN peacekeeping missions in Kosovo, Liberia, Sudan, and South Sudan.
In recognition of his contributions to policing, he was awarded the Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM-Service).
