The chief justice of Bangladesh, Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury, on Tuesday urged deputy commissioners to perform their duties with integrity and a strong sense of accountability.

He made the remarks at a meeting held at the Supreme Court auditorium, organised on the occasion of the ‘Deputy Commissioners’ Conference 2026.’


The event brought together divisional commissioners and DCs from across the country for a courtesy call and a session of guidance with the chief justice.

In his address, the chief justice described DCs as an effective bridge between the executive branch and the people.

He said they represent the government at the grassroots and play a key role in maintaining public trust.

He called on the officials to remain mindful of their responsibilities to the public, society, the state, and their own conscience and to carry out their duties with honesty and dedication.

Judges of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, the cabinet secretary, the registrar general of the Supreme Court, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, and officials of the Supreme Court registry were present at the programme.
