Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi met the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi today, a day after meeting Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in Dhaka.

“Yes, he had the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. They discussed Bangladesh-India relations,” a diplomatic source in New Delhi told UNB.

The High Commissioner reached New Delhi yesterday after holding three meetings in Dhaka, seen as part of ongoing consultations to engage constructively and take forward relations between the two neighbours.

On Sunday, he met Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman at State Guest House Padma. Yesterday, he held separate meetings with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed at the Secretariat.

During his meeting with the prime minister, Trivedi expressed India’s intent to work with the government and people of Bangladesh in a “positive, constructive and forward-looking” manner. They exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and discussed avenues for strengthening bilateral relations with a people-centric approach.
