Chinese technology group Tencent, maker of hit mobile game PUBG, has released a preview of a new open-source artificial intelligence model aimed at software engineering, research, and financial analysis.
The model, called Hy4 preview, uses a mixture-of-experts architecture containing 770 billion parameters, although Tencent said about 49 billion are activated for an individual text request.
Tencent plans to integrate the technology with products including CodeBuddy and WorkBuddy. The company acknowledged that the early model can sometimes take longer than necessary to solve complex questions or repeatedly check its answers.
The launch forms part of Tencent's broader push to increase investment in artificial intelligence, amid intensifying competition among Chinese and global AI developers.
