After five consecutive hikes, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has reduced domestic gold prices by up to Tk14,600 per bhori, setting the new rate for premium 22-carat gold at Tk271,363 per bhori.

Bajus disclosed this information in an official statement issued on Friday. The revised prices came into effect from 10:45am on Friday.

Previously, on Thursday, gold prices in Bangladesh had surged to Tk286,000 per bhori—the highest level ever recorded in the country’s history.

According to Bajus, the adjustment was made in response to a decline in the price of pure gold in the international market, which has directly influenced local pricing.

A notable drop has also been observed globally. Data from GoldPrice.org, a widely trusted source for gold and silver rates worldwide, indicates that the price of gold fell to $5,200 per ounce on Friday morning, down from over $5,550 just a day earlier.

Updated gold prices in the local market

Under the new pricing structure:

  • 22-carat gold: Tk271,363 per bhori
  • 21-carat gold: Tk259,000 per bhori
  • 18-carat gold: Tk222,024 per bhori
  • Traditional gold: Tk182,833 per bhori

Silver prices also reduced

Alongside gold, silver prices have also been revised downward:

  • 22-carat silver: Tk7,757 per bhori
  • 21-carat silver: Tk7,407 per bhori
  • 18-carat silver: Tk6,357 per bhori
  • Traditional silver: Tk4,782 per bhori

Market analysts suggest that due to ongoing volatility in global prices and shifts in the dollar–gold relationship, fluctuations in gold prices may continue in the coming days.
