Three Bangladeshi films were screened at the 27th Rainbow International Film Festival in London in the United Kingdom.
UK-based Rainbow Film Society is organising the festival which will end on May 23.
Young Bangladeshi filmmaker Jobaidur Rahman’s film ‘Uraal’ was screened at the international film festival on Wednesday.
Besides ‘Uraal’, Bangladeshi films Sumon Dhar-directed Agontuk and Sohel Rana Boyati-directed Noya Manush were also screened at the festival.
The screening of ‘Uraal’ was held at the ArtsOne Building at Queen Mary University of London at 6:00pm (local time).
Based on a story by theatre director and academic Samrat Pramanik, the film was produced by Sharif Siraj and released in August 2025.
The film depicts three friends—Moti, Bachchu and Ronju—growing up together in a semi-urban town. Their lives revolve around their bicycles, local trains, and watching movies. But then Kumkum, the daughter of a powerful merchant, catches Bachchu’s eye before mysteriously disappearing shortly afterward. A chain of devastating events involving the three friends soon follows.
‘It is a great achievement for us that our film, Uraal, was screened at the 27th Rainbow International Film Festival 2026 in London,’ said Jobaidur, adding that this international recognition would make the entire team more responsible and give them the courage to move forward.
Since 2000, the Rainbow International Film Festival has been showcasing films, including feature films, short films and documentaries, from around the globe.
