The mini-series titled “ANNiE”, directed by Abdullah Mohammad Saad, the director of “Rehana Maryam Noor”, is set for its world premiere at the Seriencamp Festival in Cologne. The festival is one of Europe’s leading events dedicated exclusively to series and the largest of its kind in Germany.
The series will screen in the Spotlight: Women in Series section on June 9. The selection marks a notable entry for Bangladeshi storytelling in an international series-focused festival context.
Rather than the traditional film festival circuit, the team positioned “ANNiE” within a platform centred on serialised content, reflecting the evolving space for long-form storytelling.
Nazifa Tushi plays the lead role in the series, joined by an ensemble cast.
Through a facebook post, Tushi announced the news and wrote, “The honour of playing such a complex yet beautiful character goes to me, and my thanks go to my director, Abdullah Mohammad Saad, for breaking me again and again to make me Annie! I am proud to share that our series, ‘ANNiE’ has been officially selected for the Seriencamp Festival 2026 in Cologne, Germany. We will be featured in the ‘Spotlight: Women in Series’ section. This is the first-ever Bangladeshi series to participate in an international series festival.”
The project credits include Ehsanul Haque, Apoorva Bakshi, Tuhin Tamijul, Ali Afjal Uzzal, Johann Chapelan, Sayba Talukder, Shihab Nurun Nabi, Yash Rohan, Shiam Shams Tusto, and Chinnmoy Roy.
