India on Friday reiterated that Bangladesh's formal request seeking the extradition of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina is currently under examination and will be processed strictly in accordance with applicable legal provisions and judicial procedures.

Responding to questions during the Ministry of External Affairs' weekly media briefing in New Delhi, official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that New Delhi had received Dhaka's extradition request and said the matter remains under review.

"Yes, we have received an extradition request. As we have stated earlier, the request is under examination," Jaiswal said.

He emphasised that India's response would be guided by the country's legal obligations, the provisions governing extradition, and the due judicial process rather than political considerations.
