As a part of the ongoing Chobi Mela, ‘The Romantic Documentarian’ by Amanul Huq, a retrospective exhibition of pioneer of creative photography in Bangladesh, is under way at the Nalinikanta Bhattashali Gallery at the National Museum.

The exhibition displayed more than fifty photographs from the collection of Drik Picture Library Archive, which was jointly researched by Ahmed Arup Kamal and Shahadat Parvez.


The retrospective briefly displayed his works in three series, ‘Political Movement and 1971’, ‘Satyajit Ray’ and ‘The Bengal Delta and Its River’.

In ‘Political Movement and 1971’, he archived the political events, the language movement of 1952, the mass uprising of 1969, and the long path to liberation in 1971, while “The Bengal Delta and Its River” showed rivers and life of the people of Bengal, and in ‘Satyajit Ray’, he depicted the renowned filmmaker on the film set.

The exhibition will end on January 31.
