Banglalink has officially launched its nationwide Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) calling service, enabling customers across Bangladesh to make voice calls using Wi-Fi alongside mobile networks.

According to a press release by the company, Banglalink introduced VoWiFi on a pilot basis in September 2025. The pilot, conducted in selected areas of Dhaka, Chattogram, and Khulna, allowed the service to be tested and optimised based on real-world performance and customer feedback.

The VoWiFi service automatically routes calls through available Wi Fi networks when mobile signals are weak, while functioning as regular voice calls in all other aspects. It requires no app downloads or separate authentication, and ensures switching between Wi Fi and mobile networks, states the press release.

Currently, Wi-Fi calling is available on selected handset models in line with regulatory requirements and through selected ISP partners, says the company. The press release also states that Banglalink is actively working with device manufacturers and ISPs to expand availability in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
