The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase has approved separate proposals to import two cargoes of LNG from the spot market.

The decision was made during a cabinet committee meeting on Monday.

According to the proposal, the approval was made to procure one LNG cargo for August 23-24, 2026, from BP Singapore Pte Ltd at $21.878 per MMBtu, costing a total of Tk 927.50 crore.

Additionally, the cabinet committee approved the purchase of another LNG cargo from the same supplier for September 4-5, 2026, at $21.778 per MMBtu, with a total expenditure of Tk 923.26 crore.
