Bangladesh women mounted an impressive comeback from a two-goal deficit to hold Bhutan to a 3-3 draw in their second outing of the SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship at the Nonthaburi Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday.

Bhutan took an early lead when Deki Lhazom found the net in the fifth minute, but Bangladesh responded quickly as Sumaya Matsushima equalised just two minutes later. The Bhutanese side, however, regained control of the match by scoring twice within a short span, with Sonam Lhamo striking in the 27th and again in the 30th minute to give her team a 3-1 advantage.

Bangladesh refused to give up and launched a late fightback. Captain Sabina Khatun pulled one back in the 35th minute before Masura Parvin levelled the score a minute later, ensuring a share of the points for Bangladesh.

With this result, Bangladesh moved to four points from two matches, while Nepal collected two points after playing the same number of games.

Earlier in the tournament, Bangladesh opened their campaign with a convincing 3-1 victory over India, with skipper Sabina Khatun playing a decisive role by scoring twice. Bhutan, meanwhile, began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Pakistan.

Bangladesh will continue their campaign against Nepal on January 19, followed by matches against Sri Lanka on January 21, Pakistan on January 23 and Maldives on January 25, all at the same venue.

At the end of the seven-round league phase, the team finishing at the top of the table will be crowned champions of the SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship.
