LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said the government intends to move forward in addressing the problems of ethnic minorities through dialogue and discussion.

Speaking as chief guest at a views‑exchange meeting organised by the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Khudro Jatigoshti Dal at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan, the BNP secretary general assured community representatives, “We are your own people. We want to stay alongside you, identify your problems, and gradually move toward solutions.”

He said he would try to discuss with the prime minister whether a separate fund could be created for ethnic minorities. He also mentioned exploring low‑interest or collateral‑free loans to support their livelihoods.

Fakhrul emphasised prioritising employment, education, and training opportunities for ethnic minorities, institutionalising support through government departments. “We want to build a rainbow nation where all communities can live with dignity,” he said, stressing social harmony and brotherhood.

He also mentioned plans for cultural exhibitions and a national gathering for ethnic minorities later this year.

Responding to representatives, Fakhrul urged them to submit demands in writing via deputy commissioners for prompt review.

He assured steps to resolve issues in Dinajpur and other areas, and expressed optimism about ensuring women’s representation from small ethnic communities in reserved seats.
