As the seven-day Eid holiday came to an end on Monday, thousands of people across the country began their return journeys to Dhaka. However, many faced delays in train schedules due to ongoing disruptions.

Large crowds were seen at Kamalapur Railway Station, Sayedabad-Gabatoli-Mohakhali bus terminals, and Sadarghat launch terminal since Monday morning. While there were no major complaints of inconvenience, some trains arrived at Kamalapur Station two to two and a half hours later than their scheduled times.

Kamalapur Station Manager Md Shazedul Islam stated that efforts were being made to minimize passenger inconvenience during the return journey. ‘Due to signal problems, some trains have experienced disruptions, but otherwise, the passenger pressure was normal,’ he explained. Shazedul also mentioned that the rush would intensify in the coming days, with more people returning to Dhaka.

Meanwhile, some people were seen leaving Dhaka even on the third day of Eid to avoid the post-holiday crowds. Passengers shared that they intentionally planned to return a little later to travel more comfortably and avoid the peak rush.

Tens of thousands of people had left Dhaka and other cities to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the largest religious festivals for Muslims, with their families. The Eid vacation began on March 17, and many took the opportunity to visit their hometowns and spend time with relatives.
