Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party alliance today submitted another nomination paper to the Election Commission (EC) for their candidate, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Chairman Oli Ahmed, to contest the 23rd presidential election, scheduled for August 20.
Two MPs -- National Citizen Party's (NCP) Mahmuda Mitu and Jamaat's Abdul Baten -- signed Oli's nomination paper as a proposer and as a seconder respectively.
A delegation from the alliance submitted the nomination paper on behalf of Oli Ahmed around 3:30pm to Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin, the returning officer for the presidential election.
Earlier in the day, the 11-party alliance submitted nomination papers for Oli Ahmed.
Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman and National Citizen Party Joint Secretary General Abdullah Al Amin signed the nomination papers as proposer and seconder, respectively.
