Ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum 2026, a manifesto-reading programme of the contesting candidates of Rajshahi-6 constituency was held on Tuesday at the Binodpur School field.
The event was jointly organized by the administrations of Charghat and Bagha upazilas and was presided over by Assistant Returning Officer and Bagha Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shammi Akhter.
Candidates representing four political parties took part in the programme and read out their election manifestos from the same stage. They included BNP-nominated candidate Abu Saeed Chand (Sheaf of Paddy), Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami nominee Principal Nazmul Haque (Scales), Jatiya Party candidate Iqbal Hossain (Plow), and Islami Andolon Bangladesh candidate Abdus Salam Suruj (Hand Fan).
All four candidates pledged to take effective initiatives to preserve and market mangoes—the main cash crop of Charghat and Bagha—alongside addressing river erosion, curbing terrorism and extortion, ensuring a drug-free society, reducing unemployment, and guaranteeing accessible healthcare for people from all walks of life.
They also committed to conducting their election campaigns in strict compliance with the Election Commission’s code of conduct.
Assistant Returning Officer and Charghat Upazila UNO Jannatul Ferdous, Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Rahatul Karim Mizan, Officer-in-Charge of Charghat Police Station Helal Uddin, Officer-in-Charge of Bagha Police Station Serajul Islam, and other officials were present at the event.
Speakers expressed optimism that a free, fair, neutral, and peaceful election would be ensured.
Rajshahi-6 constituency comprises Charghat and Bagha upazilas. The total number of voters stands at 304,275, including 152,588 male and 151,687 female voters.
