TikTok is introducing new tools to give users greater control over AI-generated content on December 2.
According to a press release, a new control will be tested inside the app's "Manage Topics" feature, allowing users to increase or decrease how much AI-generated content appears in their "For You feed". The tool is designed to help people tailor their recommendations without limiting the diversity of content on the platform. The move extends TikTok's existing personalisation features, such as keyword filters and the option to mark videos as "not interested."
TikTok is also expanding its labelling systems for AI-generated material. The company has already labelled more than 1.3 billion videos using a combination of creator disclosures, AI detection models and C2PA Content Credentials. It will now begin testing "invisible watermarking," a backend marker that cannot be removed and remains intact even when a video is edited, reposted or shared elsewhere. Over the coming weeks, invisible watermarks will be applied to content created with TikTok's own AI tools and to media uploaded with C2PA credentials, as per the press release.
Alongside product changes, TikTok is launching a $2 million global AI literacy fund aimed at supporting nonprofits and specialists who produce educational resources.
