Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal has expelled two leaders of its Airport thana unit following allegations of their involvement in the robbery of gold ornaments near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The expelled leaders are Airport thana JCD President Md Ripon Hossain and General Secretary Al-Amin Hossain Shanto.

Dhaka North City JCD said in a press release today that the two were expelled over “specific allegations of breaching organisational discipline”.

Dhaka North City JCD President Md Salahuddin Ahmed and General Secretary Mahfuz-ur-Rahman Lipkon approved the decision, the statement said.

It also instructed party leaders and activists not to maintain any organisational ties with the expelled leaders.

On August 29, Md Suman filed a case with Airport Police Station against four people over the alleged robbery of 200g of gold ornaments.

Police arrested Shanto and Abdur Rauf from the Airport area that night. The other two accused are Ripon Hossain and Rana Hossain Rubel.

Shanto and Rauf were later sent to jail.

Police said 100g of the allegedly robbed gold ornaments were recovered following the arrests.
