BNP today announced a five-day programme to mark the party’s 48th founding anniversary on September 1.

BNP acting secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed announced the programme while briefing journalists after a joint meeting at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka.

As part of the programme, BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will pay homage to party founder former president Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia at their graves at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar at 9:00am on September 1.

A discussion meeting will also be held where senior BNP leaders will address the gathering.

Besides, two more programmes will be organised at suitable times in September.

BNP Joint Secretary General Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel will release fish fry into an open waterbody, while another Joint Secretary General, Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee, will lead a tree plantation programme.

Rizvi said several other programmes will also be organised alongside the five-day programme.

He said drafts of those programmes would be finalised after consultation with BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Among those present at the joint meeting were BNP Chairman’s Adviser and Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Abdus Salam; Joint Secretary Generals Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel and Abdus Salam Azad; Water Resources Minister Mohammad Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee; and leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated and associate organisations.
