Prime Minister Tarique Rahman tonight visited the family of eight-year-old Ramisa Akter, who was recently killed in Dhaka’s Pallabi. He reached the family’s Pallabi home around 9:50pm.
The premier offered his condolences to the grieving family.
Earlier on Thursday, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said exemplary punishment would be ensured swiftly in the case.
Ramisa was raped and killed on Tuesday by a neighbour, Sohel Rana.
Her dismembered body was recovered from under a bed, while her head was found inside a bucket kept in the bathroom of Sohel's flat.
Police said locals detained the accused's wife, Swapna Akter, but Sohel escaped after cutting through a window grille.
Sohel was later arrested from the Fatullah area of Narayanganj on Tuesday evening.
The accused gave a confessional statement before a Dhaka court on Wednesday.
