Bangladesh Women moved a step closer to qualifying for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 after registering a dominant 80-run victory over Namibia Women in the Global Qualifier on Thursday. The emphatic win confirmed Nigar Sultana Joty’s side’s place in the Super Six stage of the tournament, keeping their World Cup hopes firmly on track.

The Global Qualifier follows a Super Six format, with teams carrying forward points from earlier matches. A top-four finish in the Super Six will secure direct qualification for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in England in June 2026.

After Namibia won the toss and elected to field on a bowler-friendly surface at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Bangladesh posted a competitive 144 for 7 in their 20 overs. Sobhana Mostary anchored the innings with a composed 27 off 23 balls, while Dilara Akter provided late impetus with a brisk 25 from 17 deliveries. Namibia’s bowling was led by Sylvia Shihepo, who finished with figures of 2 for 21.

In reply, Namibia struggled against Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling attack and were bowled out for just 64 in 17.5 overs. Captain Sune Wittmann top-scored with 19, but wickets fell regularly at the other end.

Sanjida Akter Meghla starred with the ball, returning impressive figures of 4 for 14, while Rabeya Khan and Fahima Khatun claimed three wickets apiece to dismantle Namibia’s batting lineup.

With this third consecutive victory, Bangladesh enter the Super Six with strong momentum as they look to finish in the top four and book their place at the Women’s T20 World Cup in England.
