Around  62.25 percent of students passed this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations, marking a 6.2 percentage points from last year.

Of the 1,829,485 examinees, 1,138,877 passed, while 116,676 secured GPA-5, according to results released by the education ministry today.

Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon inaugurated the publication of the results at 10:15am at the Education Ministry in the Secretariat.

Last year, the overall pass rate was 68.45 percent, with 139,032 students securing GPA-5 — 22,356 more than this year.

This year, of the 917,694 male examinees, 530,938 passed, giving a pass rate of 57.86 percent. Among 911,791 female examinees, 607,939 passed, with a pass rate of 66.68 percent.

Girls also outnumbered boys among GPA-5 achievers, with 63,896 girls securing the top grade compared with 52,780 boys.

Under the nine general education boards, 1,404,539 candidates took the examinations. Of them, 899,610 passed and 106,009 secured GPA-5.

The pass rate in the Dakhil examinations under the Madrasah Education Board was 55.49 percent, while the pass rate for SSC Vocational and Dakhil Vocational examinations under the Technical Education Board was 58.20 percent.
