Bhatara police have arrested the boyfriend of model and actress Ridika Ridi following her death in a case over incitement to suicide.

The arrestee has been identified as Hasibur Rahman, confirmed Mazharul Islam, the chief of Bhatara Police Station.

He said, “Ridika’s mother filed a case as the plaintiff over allegations of incitement to suicide. Her boyfriend Hasibur Rahman has been accused in the case.”

On the day of Ridika’s death, Hasibur had gone to see her in the Bashundhara Residential Area. He was arrested from there, reports bdnews24.com.

Mazharul said, "We arrested him from there. Later he was sent to court. The incident is being investigated."

According to police, Ridika's body was recovered from the house on Saturday morning. She had an argument and fight with her boyfriend Hasibur before attempting suicide.

Ridika was rescued and taken to Kurmitola General Hospital, where the doctor declared her dead.

According to police, Ridika was on a video call with her boyfriend at the time of the incident. Although the incident initially appears to be a suicide, the cause of death and the circumstances behind it are still being investigated.

In addition to modelling Ridika had acted in several dramas, including “Ekhane Manush Bikri Hoy”, “Bahurupi”, “Double Honeymoon” and “Sundari”.
