Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch on Saturday arrested Nur Mohammad, a former Awami League lawmaker for the Jamalpur-1 constituency.

The metropolitan police's DB chief, additional commissioner Shafiqul Islam, said that Nur Mohammad was arrested at a home in the capital's Gulshan area at about 7:30pm on Saturday.

Nur Mohammad is accused in multiple cases related to the July uprising and a case over crude bomb explosions at Mohakhali on the founding anniversary of the activists-banned Awami League on June 23, Shafiqul said.

'The detectives are now questioning Nur Mohammad at DB headquarters at Mintoo Road. He will be produced before the court on Sunday,' the DB chief added.

Nur Mohammad was elected lawmaker for the Jamalpur-1 constituency on January 7, 2024 in the 12th National Parliamentary Election.
