A Rohingya youth was killed in mine explosion at a location two kilometers inside Bangladesh from a border point near Reju Amtali Border outpost along Myanmar border under Ghumdhum union under Naikhongchhari upazila in Bandarban district on Tuesday morning.
Md Abdul Khalek, 35, living in the Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals camp in Cox’s Bazar, killed in the incident took place at about 9:30am, according to the Border Guard Bangladesh.
BGB-34 Battalion commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel SM Khairul Alam said that the place of the incident was known as Shah Alam’s Kalabagan.
‘We are raising awareness among people through meetings regularly to follow caution while going to the bordering areas due to the risk of mine explosion. We are also distributing leaflets among people to make them aware about the life risk due to mine,’ he added.
