Islami Andolan Bangladesh Secretary General Mawlana Gazi Ataur Rahman on Saturday warned that India’s policy of providing shelter to ousted AL chief Sheikh Hasina and allowing her to maintain political communications will ultimately harm India’s long-term interests.

Rahman asserted that India must bear the consequences of prioritizing a relationship with an "autocratic power" over developing ties with the people of Bangladesh. He urged the government to maintain steady pressure on India to halt Hasina's activities, according to a statement, UNB reports. 

The Secretary General also called for intensifying a global campaign to highlight "Awami atrocities," claiming that the party is well-known for its proficiency in spreading "false propaganda."

Emphasizing the need for justice, there should be no compromise in the trials of those involved in "fascism." He argued that the pace of these trials must not be slowed if the roots of fascism are to be completely uprooted from the country.

He cautioned that failing to shut these avenues would allow Sheikh Hasina to repeatedly create an unstable environment by announcing her return to the country.

"Institutional resistance against fascism must be built through state reforms to ensure the final defeat of Awami fascism," Rahman added.
