Popular Bangladeshi DJ and singer Sonica has been infected with the Hepatitis A virus and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital.

The artiste confirmed her illness to The Daily Star and said she is trying to recover. Earlier, she shared an update about her health on Monday night (May 18). She is currently admitted to York Hospital.

Posting a photo of herself lying on a hospital bed, Sonica wrote, “This is my home for the next few days,” giving fans a glimpse into her current condition.

Following the post, fans, followers, and colleagues flooded social media with messages wishing the singer a speedy recovery.

Sonica began her journey as a professional DJ in 2007 and quickly rose to prominence in Bangladesh’s music scene. In 2011, she represented the country on the international stage by performing at the opening ceremony of the ICC Cricket World Cup.

In recognition of her contribution to DJ music, she received the “Best Bangladeshi Female DJ” award at the Dhallywood Film and Music Awards in 2013. Expanding beyond DJ mixing, Sonica later established herself as a singer, releasing her first music video, “Bhallage”, in 2014.

Apart from music, Sonica also ventured into acting. She made her acting debut in 2015 and earned praise for her performances in the television dramas “Last Sequence” and “Triple F”.
