A man was killed after being struck by a bullet while a group of hunters was chasing a deer in a rubber garden in Fatickchari upazila of Chattogram this afternoon.
The victim, Md Zamir, 50, was shot in the Sarta Bit area under Khiram union.
Robiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Fatikchhari Police Station, told The Daily Star, "A group of four to five men went deep into a forest to hunt wild deer with guns. During the hunt, Zamir was shot and later died on the way to a hospital. He was taken to a local hospital in Nazir Hat, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead."
Police said the incident site falls under the jurisdiction of Raozan Police Station, which has been informed of the matter.
Investigators will look into whether the shooting was a misfire or deliberate.
The body will be sent to Chittagong Medical College morgue for autopsy, police said.
