Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain today warned that officials found guilty of negligence or corruption in the health sector would face dismissal rather than routine transfers.

"Officials involved in negligence and corruption in the health sector will not just be transferred; they will be directly dismissed from their jobs. Everyone must perform their duties with honesty. Corruption and bribery must come to an end, and such practices will not be tolerated under any circumstances," the minister said while addressing the 31st annual general meeting of the Narsingdi Diabetic Association as the chief guest at Narsingdi Shishu Academy auditorium.

The minister also announced that the government plans to establish 50-bed dialysis centres at every medical college hospital across the country. Besides, community clinics at the union level will be renovated and modernised, with more physicians and healthcare workers to be recruited to strengthen primary healthcare services.

He said family planning centres would also be upgraded as part of a broader reform agenda.

“We want to initiate a major transformation in the health sector within this year. Several new programmes are being undertaken to ensure improved healthcare services for the people," he said.
