Excel Academy presented a stage adaptation of “Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne” on April 30 at the National Theatre Hall of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

The production revisited the well-known Bengali story by Upendrakishore Ray Chowdhury, later adapted into a film by Satyajit Ray. Combining dialogue, music and movement, the staging aimed to bring the familiar narrative to a live audience through a mix of theatrical and technical elements.

The play was directed by Rocky Khan, with the Excel Academy Drama Team assisting in direction. Music arrangement was handled by Robins Chowdhury, while Sharmista Jhuma led the music direction.

Warafta Rasul supported the production, while Zeenat Afsana Qader oversaw supervision and overall management.
The staging marked another attempt to bring a classic Bengali story to the stage for contemporary audiences.
