BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman paid a courtesy call on National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam this evening, soon after he held a brief meeting with Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman.
The meeting began at 8:30pm at Nahid’s residence at Dhaka’s Bailey Road.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam, NCP Member Secretary Akhter Hossen, and Northern Region Chief Organiser Sarjis Alam were present at the time.
According to meeting sources, during the courtesy meeting, Nahid congratulated Tarique on BNP’s win in the parliamentary election.
The NCP chief also urged Tarique to take steps against BNP leaders and activists in Noakhali’s Hatiya and Panchagar in connection with post-polls violence.
Nahid also called for the continuation of legal proceedings over past killings and referred to the implementation of verdicts in cases related to the July-August violence involving former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
