Bangladesh Bank has declared four non-bank financial institutions (NBFI) non-viable and appointed administrators after years of irregularities and loan scandals pushed them towards collapse.
The four NBFIs are Aviva Finance, Fareast Finance and Investment, FAS Finance and Investment, and International Leasing and Financial Services.
The decision covers four of six NBFIs that had been under discussion for liquidation since the interim government took office.
People’s Leasing and Premier Leasing have, for now, avoided being declared non-viable.
Bangladesh Bank said in a media statement on Sunday that the decision followed a board resolution to review the four institutions’ financial strength and prospects for recovery before bringing them under its resolution framework.
