The National Implementation Committee on Administrative Reorganisation (Nicar) today approved proposals to establish four new police stations at its 119th meeting, chaired by the chief adviser at the Jamuna residence.
Six advisers along with the cabinet secretary, the principal secretary, and 14 senior secretaries, were present.
The new police stations will be Purbachal North in Gazipur, Purbachal South in Narayanganj, and Matarbari in Cox's Bazar district.
In Narsingdi, a proposal to split Raipura upazila and establish an additional police station was endorsed.
The committee also approved upgrading Satkhira district from 'B' to 'A' category, considering its environmental significance, tourism value, and economic potential.
The meeting further approved renaming the Mohila o Shishu Bishoyok Montronaloy, to Nari o Shishu Montronaloy, with its English name, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MoWCA), remaining unchanged.
A total of 11 administrative reorganisation proposals were approved at the meeting.
