Two Russian Navy ships arrived at Chattogram Port today on a four-day goodwill visit to Bangladesh.
The visiting ships are "Rezkiy" and "Soverchenny".
Upon their arrival at Chattogram Port, the ships were welcomed by the chief staff officer of the commander, Chattogram Naval Area, who greeted the officers and sailors on board, said a press release issued by the Navy.
The Russian ambassador to Bangladesh, the military, air, and naval attachés to Bangladesh, and senior officials of the Bangladesh Navy were also present at the welcome ceremony.
Earlier, as the visiting ships entered Bangladesh's maritime boundary, they were received by the Bangladesh Navy ship BNS Umar Farooq.
During their stay in Bangladesh, the commanding officers of the visiting vessels, along with a delegation including the deputy ambassador of Russia to Bangladesh, will pay courtesy calls on the commander of Chattogram Naval Area, the area superintendent of Dockyard, and the chairman of Chattogram Port Authority, the release stated.
As part of the visit, officers and sailors of the visiting ships will lay wreaths at Redkin Point, the grave of Russian sailor Yu V Redkin, located at the Bangladesh Naval Academy. They will also visit naval training establishments and ships, as well as important historical and tourist attractions in Chattogram.
At the same time, officers and sailors of the Bangladesh Navy will also visit the Russian vessels.
The Russian warships are scheduled to depart on March 27.
