Posters demanding the release of leaders and activists of the banned student organisation Bangladesh Chhatra League were found pasted on a shuttle train of University of Chittagong, prompting protests from the university unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, officials and students said.
The posters were reportedly seen on the train last night, with images later circulating on social media.
The posters carried slogans including “Allah is Almighty”, “Education, Peace, Progress” (Chhatra League’s official motto) and “Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu” along with photographs of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and several former BCL leaders.
Some posters also called for the “unconditional release of all political prisoners of Bangladesh Chhatra League” and urged supporters not to “fear the darkness.”
By this morning, the posters were found torn down.

Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Hasan said they had not yet received a formal complaint. “We are aware. If those involved are identified, action will be taken,” he added.
University of Chittagong Assistant Proctor Prof Md Kamrul Hossain said it was likely the posters were put up while the shuttle train was stationed at Battala Station.
In protest, Chhatra Dal activists held a procession on campus this afternoon, marching through key areas before ending near the administrative building.
Chhatra Dal leader Yasin said the organisation was attempting to reassert its presence on campus. “We urge the administration to take action and ensure accountability,” he said.
