Sixteen more patients died with measles-like symptoms in 24 hours until 8:00am today, raising this year’s death toll with the symptoms to 442, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
This was the second-highest death toll recorded in a single day. Earlier, on May 4, the country recorded 17 fatalities from measles and measles-like symptoms.
However, no confirmed deaths were reported in the 24 hours, keeping the total number of confirmed fatalities at 86.
During the period, 1,306 new suspected cases were recorded nationwide, while the tally of confirmed cases stood at 128.
Since March 15, a total of 8,622 measles cases have been confirmed, while 63,813 suspected cases have been reported.
During the period, 46,218 patients have recovered and returned home after treatment.
