The Bangladesh government has proposed appropriate policy formulation in the electronics sector to transform the country into one of the leading global electronics manufacturing hubs within the next five years, as part of its fiscal year 2026-27 budget.
Presenting the budget, finance and planning minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury described the electronics industry as one of Bangladesh's fastest-growing and most promising sectors after ready-made garments (RMG).
“In developing the country’s highly potential ICT sector, the availability of digital devices is of critical importance. By encouraging domestic production, it will be possible to provide digital devices to citizens at affordable prices, while also enabling their export to foreign markets,” he said during the budget presentation.
