Sebastian Stan is reportedly in negotiations to join the cast of "The Batman Part II", the highly anticipated sequel to Matt Reeves' 2022 blockbuster that earned $772 million worldwide.

The Oscar-nominated actor, fresh off his critically acclaimed performance in "The Apprentice", would be reuniting with Robert Pattinson, with whom he previously shared the screen in Netflix's 2020 Southern gothic drama "The Devil All the Time". Details surrounding Stan's potential role remain tightly under wraps, with no confirmation yet on whether he will portray a friend or foe to Pattinson's Bruce Wayne.

Director Matt Reeves, who co-wrote the screenplay with Mattson Tomlin, has been working diligently to craft a worthy follow-up to his gritty and critically lauded first installment. Speaking at the Emmys in September, Reeves expressed his excitement about the project, saying, "It's been a long journey, but I am so incredibly excited. I'm really proud of the script me and Mattson did."

The filmmaker also revealed the extraordinary security measures taken to protect the story, noting that the script was placed in a locked pouch with a coded security system when delivered to Pattinson in New York.

Production on "The Batman Part II" is scheduled to begin next spring, with Warner Bros eyeing an October 2027 theatrical release. While the film operates outside the newly relaunched DC Universe continuity, it remains under the development banner of DC Studios, led by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Stan's recent work includes Marvel's "Thunderbolts", which underperformed at the box office, though he earned acclaim for his performances in "I, Tonya" and "A Different Man". The actor is set to return to the MCU in "Avengers: Doomsday" and will appear in the upcoming thriller "Fjord".
